Forever Young but Growing Old in Portland

A little bit of this…a little bit of that for active Boomer travelers

Revamped, Restored and Reincarnated

After a five year hiatus, honestly due to laziness, I’ve decided to resurrect my blog, changing the name to Forever Young but Getting Old in Portland.

Two years ago, my husband, Charlie, and I sold everything, shipped a few boxes of necessities, and moved cross country from Florida to Portland, Oregon. We’ve never regretted a minute and have enjoyed mild winters and even milder summers.

This revamped, restored and reincarnated space will document our discoveries in a city we’ve grown to love…and beyond.

On our walks and hikes, we love when we’re asked where something is and how to get there. We were those inquisitive tourists once and, with 2 years under our belts, have enough experience to help.

Of course, we still need to use a GPS to navigate the back roads and highways, but we use mass transit when we can.

Years ago a friend, Ben Pollock, said, “Don’t waste the good stuff on FaceBook.”

I’ve been wasting too much lately so here goes.

  1. I enjoyed your previous posts. Are you on assignment for hotels?

    1. Thanks No, I just freelance with TravelPulse now. Back then I could pitch a hotel comp or discount if I knew TP would publish it. Now I can’t be guaranteed they’ll publish unless I’m on assignment for them. If my blog were to explode with readership, I could ask for comps but I’m not holding my breath.

      1. Great. So, your reports are sincere and not PR. Thanks.

  2. Can you write about your inner journey in making such a dramatic move in your latter years?

  3. Glad to see your returning to your blog. Can’t wait to read more!

  4. Welcome back. Looking forward to more. Blogging is fun. I moved over to Substack a month ago.

  5. Yeah, I thought about going Substack, and might still look into it. First I wanted to see if I could resurrect my old blog since I already had everything on the WordPress platform.
