Those of us born between the years 1946 and 1964 have inherited the ad nauseam label of “Baby Boomer.” The marker didn’t bother me too much until I reached my 60’s and, as a result, have been fighting the stereotyping, branding and pigeonholing that society has placed on those of us who have reached this decade. I am not easing into old age quietly.

We were oblivious, in our 20′s and 30′s, to the fact that time would flash by in the blink of an eye. What happened to our 40′s and 50′s? Yikes, our 70′s are here and we have so much more to learn, see and do before our time is up.

A lot of us are lucky to enjoy parents living into their 80′s and 90′s, as well as grown children and grandkids. As part of yet another label, the Sandwich Generation, we are pulled in all directions. This blog hopes to address some of the many issues of aging, parenting, becoming the parent to your parents, along with some political stuff, travel stuff, and whatever other “stuff” pops up.

Having lived in Orlando most of my life, I’ve seen transitions from a sleepy little town to the mega tourist attraction of the world. Most of us, who were here before the big Disney bang, having seen our downtown grow into a hip urban city, continuing to enjoy the growth and all it has to offer. After a recent seven-year “retirement” to the beach, my husband and I decided to move back to the diversity and vitality of our hometown, and we haven’t been disappointed.

Wherever this blog take us, I hope we can be of help to each other in this age of change, whether positive or negative. Hopefully, these next couple of decades will prove to be healthy, happy and productive!
